Get Fit for New Year using a Strapless Heart Rate Monitor

Well 2009 draws to a close and from everyone here at StraplessHeartRateMonitor.net we hope you had a fantsatic 2009 and are looking forward to an awesome 2010.

I’m sure many of you want to start the new decade out right by getting fit, losing weight and living a more healthy lifestyle. We all start out the new year with good intentions but they fall by the wayside as the year progresses. Why? Because we set too lofty goals, are not really committed enough, or it is just too difficult.

So how do we address these issues?

Goal Setting

Really setting the bar very high is a good idea. Why pick something too easy? But now it feels like you have an elephant in the room! Well as a good friend of mine once said, ‘You eat an elephant one bite at a time’. What this means is to map a route to your goal with smaller goals that are achievable. Make sure you monitor them, and celebrate as you achieve each of your smaller goals! This leads us to the second stumbling block…

Commitment

Now that you have manageable goals that you can achieve on a regular basis, you’ll find that commitment becomes a non issue. In fact you’ll want to get to the next goal, then the next, then the next…. Nothing motivates a person like success. If you’re struggling with a particular goal, just cut it into smaller chunks – remember one bite at a time!

It’s Too Difficult

This is where a little outside help goes a long way. For many the problem is that they start out too hard, too fast and either burn out or injure themselves. This is like the Tortoise and the Hare. Keeping up a steady effort that pushes you but is maintainable can be a tough balance to strike. And that’s where a heart rate monitor can prove invaluable. If Santa didn’t bring you a heart rate monitor in your Christmas stocking then why not treat yourself and give yourself a boost for the new year!
